Reflections: Life since graduation

During my final term of college—April to June 2010—upon the christening of this blog, I wrote the following bio:

Hi there! My name is Lauren Switzer, and I recently graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism: Public Relations and a minor in Communication Studies. I am currently pursuing a career in public relations and communications.

From July 2009 through November 2009, I had the amazing privilege of studying abroad in Melbourne, Australia. While there, I also had the opportunity to intern at the Melbourne office of Edelman Worldwide. This experience made me very passionate about international public relations; a passion I hope to convert to a career in the near future.

Aside from public relations, my passions include traveling, history, dancing, reading and attending the occasional movie. I am a social media junkie and am absolutely fascinated by new technology.

In an ideal world, my future holds at least one of the following: an agency job in public relations, a return to Australia, a backpacking trip through Europe with my best friends from my study abroad experience or a trip to the Harry Potter theme park in Orlando, Florida.

If you would like to seek me out in other social media, you can find me on TwitterFacebook,  LinkedIn,  PROpenMic and VisualCV.

Little did I know, I was outlining my future. I now posses a job at a public relations agency; this past summer I went to Europe for four weeks and visited numerous study abroad friends; in May, I went to the Harry Potter theme park; and in less than three months, I will be returning to Australia.

I began drafting this post in July of this past year. It’s quite ironic that I find it now, as I’m currently reading Infinite Possibilities by Mike Dooley. Thoughts, dreams and wishes really do become things.
